Anthropological genetics

The term physical anthropology reflects the original interest that anthropologist had in describing human physical variation. Anthropological genetics are the area of physical anthropology that studies contemporary and historical variations among human populations focusing on the way groups are related to environmental pressures (such s climate an altitude) in a specific region.

These anthropological questions concern the processes of human evolution, the human diaspora out of Africa, the resulting patterns of human variation and bio-cultural involvement in complex diseases.

Most physical anthropologists use change in gene frequency as the master concept to interpret human evolution after the divergence o hominids and pongids as well as the ongoing genetical differentiation of local breeding.
